The planning levels of Migration program for 2019 – 2020

The Migration program is drafted to reach a range of economic and social outcomes. This program is set each year with total 160, 000 places available for year 2019 – 2020. The Migration program is composed of the following streams:
- o Skill Stream – designed to fill in skill shortages in the labor market and improve the productive capacity of the economy. The skill stream has majority of the places in the program which are around 108, 682 equivalent to 69.5 per cent of the program.
- o Family stream – mainly made up of Partner visas which enables family members from overseas to reunite with their family in Australia and provides them with pathways to citizenship. The Family stream has 47, 732 places which is equivalent to 30.5 per cent of the program.
- o Special eligibility – covers visas for those in special circumstances which include permanent residents returning to Australia. It is the smallest stream which has only 236 places.
- o For child – there are estimated 3,350 places available.
